It was ...I'll never forget that moment, either. It was one of the campaign's highlights for me.
Paul was our Member for three terms I believe, two under Mr Chretien and then one Mr. Martin. At that time, the Right was divided and so Liberals everywhere had a better chance at success. In this Riding, at least for the foreseeable future, earning enough votes will include convincing people to vote strategically.
I am still applauding you and Tom, by the way...Karen Grahamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01966311728661814112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1901744864894638944.post-75118090258664759342014-06-13T10:07:58.286-07:002014-06-13T10:07:58.286-07:00Gee...only 71 people voted from over 300 in your p...Gee...only 71 people voted from over 300 in your poll? What apathy.
Was it a well-to-do neighbourhood or blue collar?

I too was taken aback when Mr. Dunlop said that Ontarians had made a big mistake. This from a guy who had/has a distaste for Gay Marriage in a past campaign a decade ago. He he said that society would fall if Gays were allowed to marry. Something to that effect. Hmmm. I think the country and society is still standing.

He must be beside himself with a Lesbian Premier- and a woman to boot.

Ontarians made a mistake indeed! Maybe those who continually place a PC in Simcoe North have made the mistake. Does anyone here in Simcoe North really think the government will add Go service to Orillia or offer other forms of government assistance? According to Kathleen, she is here for all Ontarians, so we will have to see.

The reality is, no matter how many pancake breakfasts Garfield organizes and how many Tories attend, it won't help us one bit provincially.

Finally, this" making a mistake" rhetoric from a member of a party that lost seats, threatened jobs on one hand and advocated making a million of them on the other. As well he's a member of a party who's leader- Tim Hudak, had to step down as leader.

Did you know his campaign even brought in members of America's right-wing to try to nudge those same extreme policies into Ontario.
It didn't work, thank goodness.

Proves that Canadians and the people of this Province of Ontario are not lovers of the extreme right- especially when it finds its roots in the U.S.

Lastly, with regards to the young folks, I would have suggested writing "I decline" on the ballot and quietly placing it in the box.

They should also write a letter to the Media as well as all parties involved. It does no good sitting in the corner and sulking.

With today's media it's easy to get your voice heard. I know one elected representative- Kathleen Wynn, will listen.Rob Reidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10887572557281678283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1901744864894638944.post-5624894962421611822014-06-13T09:48:12.546-07:002014-06-13T09:48:12.546-07:00Thanks Karen,

As I said looking at Fred and Doris's votes, it could have been an upset for Garfield. I hope the idea to combine parties here in Simcoe North takes off. The 3 party (4 counting the Greens) doesn't allow for change here. One exception, was Paul Devilliers- federally of course, a few years back. didn't Paul have two terms as our MP for Simcoe North? Then let's not forget your valiant fight to be our Liberal MP.
I'll never forget Tom and I waltzing into your campaign office on Colborne Street, announcing our marriage and everyone applauded.

Thanks.

R*Rob Reidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10887572557281678283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1901744864894638944.post-20013197814740825822014-06-13T09:30:45.279-07:002014-06-13T09:30:45.279-07:00I totally agree I was working a Poll on Thursday a...I totally agree I was working a Poll on Thursday and averaged 4 votes per hour I was home by 9.30 The Poll closed at 9.00pm !!!! Why was I home so early HA HA I only had 71 ballots to count out of a possible 324!!!! Any one dare complain Oh yes Garfield the Con not Cat has said this morning A Liberal Govt is the worst one for Ontario What a JOKE He has got 4 years to stand up stay in one place and HELP Orillia Old folks are dying Young folks are not so uneducated I was proud to have 2 most polite young folks come out to DECLINE their BALLOTS Yes bless them they made a Democratic choice HOWEVER I had to write beside their name on the Official Voters List seen by the Election Officials that they declined SECRET BALLOT HEY ?? They could have spoiled the ballot or not marked the ballot put it in the box No body would have known Brave darlings that they were They chose to make a statement by declining to mark their ballots BUT and I repeat BUT they never got the chance to say WHY ???Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1901744864894638944.post-53243556638890573312014-06-13T04:18:49.496-07:002014-06-13T04:18:49.496-07:00Hey Rob

I wish I could have done more for the Larsen campaign -- they did a fantastic job and deserve congratulations. Kathleen Wynn is an authentic, big-hearted leader. Not afraid to apologize for her predecessor's mistakes. And so eloquent in thanking Ontarians last night. I love that she repeated the statement from her leadership win, that Ontario is a place where anyone has a chance regardless of gender or orientation. An LGBT Premier will really "get" what its like to stand up against fear and hatred and work for social justice. She Rocks! Thanks for your eloquent Blog Rob.
Karen-down-the-streetKaren Grahamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01966311728661814112noreply@blogger.com
